EPRC embarks
on benchmarking tours to several countries
The Education Policy Review
Commission has embarked on benchmarking study tours to select countries. The
objective is to gain a deeper insight and knowledge of the country’s education
system. The findings and knowledge derived from the study tours will be used to
shape the policy review and formulation process of Uganda's education and
sports sector. The countries include Kenya, Tanzania, Rwanda, Ethiopia,
Malaysia, South Korea and Vietnam. This
is in addition to Finland which was visited in 2023.
The benchmarking tours are
led by the Chair of the Commission, Honorable (Retired Colonel) Amanya
Mushega. The team will meet with key stakeholders
in the education sector of the host country, visit institutions of learning, as
well as engage Ugandans residing in these countries. The engagements with Ugandans
in the diaspora are arranged by respective Uganda High Commissions. The aim of
the public engagements is to offer a chance to Ugandans abroad to submit their
views, proposals and recommendations towards an improved education system for
Uganda.
At the same time, the Education Policy Review Commission continues to hold public hearings, consultations, and dialogue with key stakeholders across Uganda. Similarly, the Commission is compiling findings of views, proposals, and recommendations received over the months from various engagements with stakeholders. All the above inputs and findings will be used to inform the formulation of a new education macro policy framework.
